Convertors FAQs

  • Q: What is the different between Loop powered and not loop powered for an Analog Convertor Application?

A: The best way to remember this is to see if your Instrumentation has power applied to it with either 110Vac or 24Vac, 24Vdc
f your Instrumentation has power applied to it then, the Loop is Powered.
EXPLAIN 1: For an Analog application the Instrumentation devices are either 2 Wire, 4 Wire, RTD, or it Involves some other kind of linear controlling device. Typically if the Instrument is a 2 wire device then it is passive, and the analog convertor will need to be powered. However, if the Instrument a 4 wire device, then two of the wires are used to power up the loop, so a "Loop powered convertor is not needed"
EXPLAIN 2: Loop Powered Convertor devices are 2 Wire Devices. Local Powered Convertor devices are 4 Wire Devices

  • Q: I have Entrelec Voltage convertor 001109814 that has been obsolete. Do we have a replacement?

A: The older voltage converter that is obsolete, can be replaced with the CC-U/STD Universal Signal Converter 1SVR040000R1700. This converter will accommodate a multitude of different Inputs and outputs with DIP Switch settings.

  • Q: Why are some of the screws missing on my Analog Converter?

A: We use a generic package for those convertors and some of the screws are missing
