June 15, 2010 – ABB Foundation announced today that it will be distributing nearly $68,000 from the ABB St. Louis Fund as officials issued another call for donations to the fund which will remain open until Sept. 30, 2010.
The ABB St. Louis Fund was set up to enable employees and St. Louis residents to help the families of victims of the tragic shooting at the ABB transformer factory on Jan. 7. ABB Foundation , a charitable giving organization, is an independent, 501(c)3 organization.
The funds being distributed consist of more than $33,000 in donations which were matched by ABB Inc. The money will be shared equally among the families of the four deceased employees, after setting aside a portion for a memorial. Plans for the memorial have not been finalized. The funds are expected to be distributed by the end of June.
"We want everyone in St. Louis to know that there is still time to help these families,” said ABB Foundation spokesman Barry Dillon. “And we want to pass along our thanks to the employees and residents who gave money to help the ABB families through this tragic time."
ABB announced formation of the fund January 10. Donations should be sent to Merrill Zaft, ABB Foundation, 501 Merritt 7, 6th Floor, Norwalk, CT, 06851.
