Meet a Project Leader
Hi! My name is Javier de Oñate. I am originally from Cuba and I’m working for ABB Semiconductors as a Project Leader.
I have a Master’s in Physics and a Ph.D in Chemistry from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
What I like most about my job is its diversity. I have to deal with very different issues, and also with very different people from all over the world. There is no time to get bored at ABB because things are changing all the time.
Right now we are developing high powered semi conductor devices – meaning dyes, and modules for industrial and traction applications. What I find exciting are not only the technical aspects but also their daily applications for use in elevators, trains, subways, etc.
What I like most about ABB is having the possibility to work on very different projects and meeting people from all over the world, even Cubans! At ABB, things are always moving!
